The Carencro Mardi Gras Parade Will Roll

The Carencro City Council approved a resolution that will allow the Carencro Mardi Gras Association to roll Saturday, February 15th starting at Carencro High School and ending on the North City Limits by the Carencro Community Center.

The President of the Carencro Mardi Gras Association, Jim Richard, rose to ask the council to approve the running of the parade that has rolled since 1983. Mayor Glenn Brasseaux explained that the parade cost the city about twelve thousand dollars a year in the cleanup, barricades, and security. The Mayor also addressed complaints about road closures and vulgar music played on the floats.

Chief David Anderson discussed the numbers placed on floats for identifying offenders. Jim Richard says offenders from the previous year are not allowed back the next year. The council approved the parade unanimously.

Signup is ongoing for the parade, the registration form can be downloaded here.
