Odell Beckham Jr. may not be in the clear just yet.
After an LSU spokesperson said on Tuesday that the Cleveland Browns receiver was giving out fake cash to LSU players as a joke following their 42-25 College Football Playoff National Championship Game on Monday night, the university is at least making sure it covers its bases.
According to the USA Today, LSU is investigating whether or not it was indeed real cash he was handing to the players.
Beckham, who played at LSU from 2011-13 before turning pro, was seen handing the cash to wide receivers Justin Jefferson and Jontre Kirklin amid the celebration at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

Neither player has yet to officially declare for the NFL Draft, therefore are subject to NCAA rules prohibiting accepting such payments.
LSU quarterback, Heisman Trophy winner and likely future No. 1 pick Joe Burrow went on Barstool Sports’ “Pardon My Take” podcast and said that Beckham gave him money, too, and confirmed that the cash was indeed real, although the podcast does often take a humorous tone.
“I’m not a student-athlete anymore, so I can say yeah,” Burrow said.
Beckham did reportedly give every LSU player a pair of headphones before the game, which is legal since players can receive up to $550 in gift value for competing in bowl games from the management of the event, or from the participating member institution.
