Nursing Home Staff Accused of Running a Fight Club

Staff at a North Carolina assisted living facility are accused of running a fighting ring, encouraging residents with dementia to get into a physical altercation.

According to the Charlotte Observer, staff members at the Danby House in Winston-Salem, North Carolina did not intervene in a fight between residents at the facility.  Instead, the staff took a video of the fight and shared it on social media.  Staff members can be heard on video shouting encouragement to the fighting residents.  According to officials, no documentation of the fight was recorded by the staff into the facility’s records.

Taneshia Deshawn Jordan, Tonacia Yvonne Tyson, and Marilyn Latish McKey have been arrested for misdemeanor assault on an individual with a disability.  McKey has also been charged after allegedly shoving one of the residents involved in the fight during a separate incident.  The staff members were fired after allegations surfaced in June.
