Church Point PD Warns Against Vandalism During Homecoming Week

Church Point Police Chief, Dale Thibodeaux is warning the community about vandalism during homecoming week.

In a Facebook post, the Chief acknowledged the tradition of toilet papering houses but warned about children going overboard and committing acts of vandalism.

“Be advised this has been done for years and was more like fun and games as kids would toilet paper your house tonight but would go help clean it the next day. As of now it has gotten out of hand and has become vandalism on some incidents. I am not saying all the kids are going overboard but there are some.” – Thibodeaux

Thibodeaux said that a child caught in an act of vandalism would be “charged through the Juvenile Division of District Court.”

“Also any juveniles caught out after curfew will also be charged. I would also like the parents to be aware that should your child be charged with a criminal offense such as vandalism or criminal mischief the parent may also be charged and have to bond out of jail for child in need of supervision.” – Thibodeaux

The Chief also suggested for kids and parents to get together and agree on who’s houses would be toilet papered.

“I think if the kids parents got together and agreed on who’s houses got toilet papered it could still be fun and safe that way.” – Thibodeaux
