‘3rd Floor Sam’ Has People Send Beer Up To His Office

Media Place Partners rents office space on top of New Holland Brewing’s restaurant, Knickerbocker, in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  Sam Hoats works for the digital marketing company and got the wise idea to put up a sign in his office window that asks for people to send him a beer.

I knew I’d like working on the third floor of @newhollandknickerbocker. Thanks to kind beer-goers, 67 beers have been sent up to me so far (I even get to drink them when they arrive). So, if you’re at the brewery and see my sign, send one up; I’d love the hopportunity to drink beer through the window with you. Shout out to Media Place Partners for letting me drink (responsibly) on the job, @newhollandbrew for letting me keep my sign and to my Labrador Obi for being a good boy. Most importantly, shout out to the beer senders. Ya’ll are the best.

Hoats has received 85 beers within the first year of putting up the sign.  He got the idea from watching a soccer game and noticing some of the ads.

“So I’m looking up at where my desk is and thinking, ‘man, could I angle some text and make it readable?’” Hoats said.

Hoats has now gained a good bit of popularity in the town and New Holland Brewing now plans to release a beer inspired by him named “Third Floor Sam.”
