Someone who referred to themselves as “…as square as they come,” says they’ve been plagued by bad luck after stealing a bottle of ketchup from a restaurant in New Jersey.

In a remorseful note given to the restaurant, along with 2-new bottles of ketchup, the person explained that they had taken the bottle of ketchup because they thought it would be “risky.” The note says they got in a car crash hours after stealing the condiment, and since then, they’ve been plagued by bad luck. The thief returned with 2 bottles of ketchup to try and turn their luck around. The thief says it’s the worst thing they’ve ever done.
Heinz Ketchup tweeted that they would help the “reformed ketchup thief” with their car damages and would keep their identity top-secret.
