Tragedy struck the local rodeo community, Clay Leblanc from Lake Arthur was killed over the weekend at a rodeo event in Leesville. At only 23 years old, Clay Leblanc was making a name for himself in Cajun Rodeo Association – ranked number 2 in the association going into this past weekend’s competition.
Family and friends are mourning a fellow competitor but also a friend and family member. Paul Stelly a fellow rodeo competitor, said the industry is very close-knit.
“He was just Clay, just a good cowboy and when you looked at him you didn’t see just a cowboy he was a father, he was a son, he was a brother to everybody behind these shoots. Everybody in the stands that watched him loved him.”
