Events Rescheduled and Closures

Due to the expected arrival of Tropical Storm Barry, many event organizers and employers have made decisions to either cancel or schedule upcoming events.

  • All Lafayette Parks and Recreation Summer Enrichment Program and Therapeutic Day Camps will be closed on Monday, July 15, 2019, due to inclement weather.  All programs will resume on Tuesday, July 16, 2019.

  • The Acadia Parish landfill will be closed Saturday July 13th due to inclement weather we will resume operation on Monday July 15th.

  • Lafayette General Urgent Care Centers will be closed Saturday.

  • Due to Tropical Storm Barry, Bayou Vermilion District and Vermilionville Living History Museum & Folkife Park will be closed on Saturday, July 14th.

  • All activities July 12 – 14 at First Baptist Lafayette are cancelled due to the weather. This includes Sunday worship services and Bible studies.

  • U.S. Postal Service will not be delivering mail in the 700, 701, 703, 704, 705, 706, 707 and 708 zip codes Saturday, July 13, 2019.

  • Due to severe weather expected from Tropical Storm Barry, PlanLafayette’s July session on Sustainability from Community to Campus on Tuesday, July 16th at the LITE Center will be postponed.

  • The adoption event scheduled for this Saturday, July 13, at the Lafayette Animal Shelter and Care Center (LASCC) has been cancelled due to severe weather expected from Tropical Storm Barry.

  • All South Louisiana Community College campuses will be closed Friday, July 12 due to inclement weather. All activities planned Friday and throughout the weekend will be rescheduled.

  • UL Lafayette will be closed Friday, July 12, due to potential flooding in Acadiana from Tropical Storm Barry. All Friday classes are canceled. Participants of activities scheduled on campus, including athletic and academic summer camps, will be contacted directly by their event coordinators.

  • St. Mary Parish Office closures Friday, July 12th:

  • Louisiana Supreme Court’s website, www.lasc.org, has posted a list of Court Closure Orders and Information received from courts in areas affected by weather conditions.

  • LSU will be closed, all classes and events scheduled for Friday are cancelled. This includes all athletic and academic summer camps, the LSU Early Childhood Education Laboratory Preschool, the LSU Testing Center, all camps and activities at the University Laboratory School, and any other events or activities scheduled on LSU’s campus.

  • Parish School Systems have announced that all summer activities and facilities will be closed: Lafayette, Acadia. St Mary, Cameron

  • Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG) administrative services will be suspended as of 12 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2019. Regular office hours are set to resume Monday, July 15, 2019. LCG asks everyone for their patience and cooperation at this time.

  • All Lafayette Parks and Recreation Summer Enrichment Program and Therapeutic Day Camps will be closed on Friday, July 12, 2019, All programs will resume on Monday, July 15, 2019.

  • Lafayette Transit System (LTS) is suspending service at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2019 and continuing through the weekend. LTS WILL NOT PROVIDE ANY TRANSPORTATION SERVICES INCLUDING NIGHT OWL AND PARATRANSIT DURING THIS PERIOD. Weather permitting, regular LTS service will resume on Monday, July 15, 2019.

  • Due to inclement weather, all Lafayette Public Library locations will close on Friday, July 12 at 12:00 PM and will remain closed on Saturday, July 13. As of this time, the library system expects to resume regular hours on Sunday, July 14.

  • St. Landry Parish Solid Waste Landfill will be closed on Saturday, July 13, 2019. Waste pickup for that day will also be suspended by our contractor, Waste Connections.

  • The Love Our Schools initiative is being moved to SATURDAY, AUGUST 10 as a result of Tropical Storm Barry that is expected to impact Acadiana in the coming days.

  • Carencro Sports Complex Summer Camp will be closing on Friday at 3 PM due to the weather. Campers are asked to plan to have all campers picked up by 3 PM.

  • Carencro’s Pelican Park has cancelled all activities for the weekend and will reopen on Monday.

  • ECCBC REHEARSAL FOR WEDNESDAY, 7/10/19 HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER AND NO A/C IN THE LIBERTY CENTER. THE CONCERT WILL BE POSTPONED AS WELL — RESCHEDULED.

  • Due to the tropical storm forecast for this weekend, Picnic + Planting Day has been rescheduled to next Sunday, July 21st.

  • ArtWalk is always the second Saturday of the month, but sometimes weather circumstances make a stroll down Jefferson Street less than appealing. Since the events of ArtWalk are all independently organized, it is up to individual event organizers to cancel or postpone their exhibits, markets, or performances.
