LSU’s Baseball Season Is Over After 5-4 Loss to Florida State in 12 innings

Last night, the LSU Tigers fell 5-4 to the Florida State Seminoles in 12 innings during the NCAA Super Regionals.

The Tigers were 1 away from taking the game to the 13th, when Florida State ended the game on a 2 out single from Drew Mendoza in the bottom of the 12th.  The hit scored Mike Salvatore from second with the walk off run.

LSU trailed until the 8th, when they were able to manufacture 2 runs in the top of the inning but remained there until the 12th.

Sophomore pitcher Devin Fontenont delivered the game of his life as he took over in the sixth inning to relieve Matthew Beck.  Fontenot brought a no hitter into the 12th, with no runs and 2 walks with 9 strike outs.

Legendary Florida State coach Mike Martin, who is retiring after 40 seasons at the age of 74, will be going to the College World Series for the 17th time as he looks for his first National Championship!
