Getting there is half the work.

While the idea of a family vacation can be daunting and burdensome, according to a OnePoll survey, the overwhelming majority of parents enjoy and have fond memories of past family road trips. Other interesting findings in the poll include; the average vacation drive is about three hours each way; “are we there yet?” is asked 16 times, “how much longer?” 18 times, and there are an average of 11 bathroom breaks. Oh, and the most popular car games are still the License Plate Game, 20 Questions and I Spy, and they are typically played in some variation about 16 times per road trip.

With gas prices averaging about $2.69 a gallon nationally, prices will vary from state to state, so it may be helpful to anticipate and plan ahead for fuel costs.

YAY! We Made It!!

With tongue firmly in cheek, Chris Logan from The Big Morning Show said his favorite thing about going to the beach was that he gets to “pack and haul everybody’s stuff back and forth, and up and down stairs on hot sand for a whole week.”

Yeah, a week in a beach condo is a lot of work, cooking and laundry and sand everywhere that, like glitter, just keeps multiplying!!  This year there may be even more to worry about than just sand.

If you are headed to Gulf Beaches from Texas to Florida, be aware that current and water quality may be a serious issue this summer. In the event that the beach where you are is closed or there are warnings that keep you out of the water, try to have some alternative activities planned for just in case.

And while you are double checking packing lists, checklists, the car and tires, buying new swimsuits and floaties, don’t forget, the most important thing is to HAVE FUN, relax and make great memories of the Summer of 2019!!
