Electric Scooter Ban Still In Effect After LCG Meeting

Electric Scooters made their way on to the Lafayette scene late last year! If you remember, the scooters were received with mixed emotions.  Some people loved the fact that you could rent a scooter and ride the streets of Lafayette, while others did not care for reckless driving and the way some scooters were left on the sidewalk after a rental.

LCG decided to issue a ban on electric scooter rentals – now lets fast forward to 2019!

After Tuesday’s Council Meeting, the ban on electric rental scooters will stay in effect for about two months.

In order to give Lafayette Consolidated Government a chance to create their own rules and regulations, Mayor Joel Robideaux requested the ordinance.

City-Parish Attorney Paul Escott said the legal team is at about 85 percent of regulation completion.  When complete, they will present it to the council for adoption.
