Domino’s Begins Driverless Delivery in Houston

Domino’s Pizza has teamed up with self-driving vehicle company, Nuro, to begin driverless delivery in Houston, Texas.

The Nuro‘s R1, self-driving vehicle, has already been in use for driverless grocery deliveries in Scottsdale, Arizona.  The company has seen a lot of success as investment into the automated delivery industry grows.  It’s also not the first time Domino’s has experimented with self-driving pizza delivery vehicles.  The company did an experiment in Michigan in 2017.

So, how does it work?

Customers place and pay for their orders online and the vehicle drives itself and delivers to the customer, cutting out the need to pay drivers.  If successful, this could have a dramatic effect on the food delivery industry with more companies opting to save money.
