Police in Marietta, Georgia busted 141 drivers within 3-hours for texting and driving.
Georgia‘s “hands-free” law went into effect last year and officers from the Marietta Police Department went undercover to enforce it. Officers dressed as construction workers and stood in raised medians to catch people playing on their phones.
“We had multiple people run the red light in front of us. We had one car that was distracted — texting — and turned into oncoming traffic on a divided roadway and was driving the wrong direction on a one-way road.” – Officer Chuck McPhilamy, Marietta Police Department
Officer Kavon Sammi said may violations happened at intersections.

All in all, the operation totaled 170 citations. Some in the community called the operation a waste of time and resources.
