A bid to allow municipalities to hike the minimum wage above the federal level was blocked in the Louisiana House on Thursday. The measure was brought forward by New Orleans Representative, Royce Duplessis. The National Federation of Independent Business and the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry said the legislation could damage the state’s economy.
