“They saw something in me I don’t think I see in me.”

When musician and songwriter Emily Ortego first picked up a guitar as a child, the dream wasn’t to be on a television singing competition.

“I think I’m living the dream I didn’t know I had until I was living it.”

A new dream. It includes being herself and performing her original, “So I sing” for celebrity judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie.

Ortego says, “They really really genuinely loved that I was so vulnerable and that I decided to put myself out there in a really emotional way. Lionel said I inspired him I don’t know I think I can go to sleep happy for the rest of my life.”

Not only that, she was exactly what they were looking for.

“And then Luke said we’re not looking for the cookie cutter thing. We’re looking for something real and that can really deliver a story.”
