NFL’s Replay System Could Remain Intact

After the New Orleans Saints debacle in the NFC Championship game, many Who Dat fans and football fans in general, were calling for a change in replay.

When New York Giants owner & Chairman of the NFL Management Council Executive Committee John Mara emerged from the annual competition committee meeting in Indianapolis, Mara told reporters he doesn’t anticipate significant changes coming to the replay system.

According to the AP, “I just don’t sense a lot of support to use replay to call penalties. I don’t sense a lot of support for the expansion of it, either,” Mara said Tuesday. “We’re early on, so that might change, but that’s my sense of where we are right now. I’m not saying it won’t change.”

Any rule change requires 24-votes to pass. Committee members are listening to all involved, as they spoke to the officials early this week and later in the week, coaches and GM’s will discuss. In March, at Phoenix, the owners will discuss and are the ones with the power to change the rules.  There is no formal recommendation or proposal on the table.
