If you are from Abbeville or Vermilion Parish or have visited in the past 37 years, you may be familiar with a ‘car stuck in the tree.’
According to KLFY,
A car that has been stuck in a tree in Abbeville for 37 years, was taken down Wednesday.
It’s an old legend in Abbeville and the surrounding areas.
A 1973 Plymouth Fury 3 landed in an oak tree off Highway 82.
It’s a two door vehicle, with a police interceptor engine under the hood, and has been stuck in that tree for almost 4 decades.
Debi Barron Steen, who’s husband Charley owns the vehicle, told News 10: “Charley was worried about the health of the oak tree because the limb it was sitting on was showing some distress. So he removed the car and we have a tree specialist coming to take care of the tree. That’s it, a 37 year old era is gone. But all good things have to end right?”
News 10’s Lester Duhe’ did a story about how the car got stuck in the tree in the first place, you can watch the back story here.
