Jennifer Sinclair is the principal at Manchester Elementary School in Elkhorn, Nebraska, and recently sent out a memo to the staff about what is and isn’t acceptable at the school during the holiday season.
Jennifer’s goal was to remove anything with religious themes, including candy canes. Why? “Historically, the shape is ‘J’ for Jesus. The red is the blood of Christ, and the white is a symbol of his resurrection.”
Not many people have heard about the symbolism of candy canes, and some parents hadn’t either, because they flooded the school district with calls.
So what happened? The school district suspended Jennifer while they investigate.
This has some many people flooding the school with angry calls, that they’re putting police in the school on the outside chance that someone tries something dangerous.
