Cormier and Brees Make Most Dominant Athletes List

ESPN comprised a list of the Most Dominant Athletes of 2018.

Among the top 20 was New Orleans Saints Quarterback and future Hall of Famer, Drew Brees.  Leading his team to another playoff birth at age 39, Brees placed 15th in the rankings.

In the fourth quarter of his Week 11 game against the Eagles, Brees threw a perfect spiral down the right sideline to Alvin Kamara for a 37-yard touchdown. On fourth down. With his team leading by 31. It was 2018 in a nutshell for Brees, who has 31 TDs and four interceptions through 13 games (his Saints won 11 of those). He’s the NFL’s most-accurate passer with a completion percentage of 75.7, a career best. He also leads the league in passer rating (120.8) and total QBR (83.5). At age 39, Brees has been like one of his passes: relentless and on the money. Anthony Olivieri

Also, placing in the top 3, is Lafayette, LA native and UFC “Champ-Champ,” Daniel “D.C.” Cormier.

Cormier has vowed to retire after he turns 40 in March, and if he’s a man of his word, he’ll have spent his final full calendar year in the UFC making history — and making it look easy. Handily claiming the light heavyweight title? Check. Becoming a simultaneous UFC belt-holder via first-round knockout against highly decorated heavyweight Stipe Miocic? Double check. (And double champ.) Landing 19 significant strikes to Derrick Lewis’ four while defending titles in multiple weight classes, the first champion to ever do so? Check, check, check. Hallie Grossman
