NFL commish Roger Godell says ‘everyone should stand’ for the National Anthem…..but
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has warned players should stand for the national anthem but fell short of introducing penalties for those who refuse to do so.
Speaking after a meeting with team owners in Manhattan on Wednesday, Goodell told reporters that the NFL believes ‘that our players should stand for the national anthem.’
However, Goodell did not indicate any changes to the league policy that would penalize players who opt to sit or kneel during the anthem. When asked if teams will be allowed to punish players for refusing to stand, the Commissioner said he did not want to ‘get into hypotheticals.’
